Pre and Adolescent use of Natural Progesterone
I
have a daughter who is eleven years of age. She is becoming irritable and temperamental.
Her behavior is erratic and irrational and her grades at school are slumping.
What can I do to help her?
This raises an interesting point concerning estrogen production and emotional behavior often overlooked by both the parents and medical community alike. The general health of girls between the ages of nine and thirteen can be adversely affected by low estrogen levels. The parents of daughters in this age group should be aware of the symptoms associated with the onset of menarche (when females start to menstruate) such as emotional outbursts, excess volubility or becoming non communicative, intermittent irritability, compulsive consumption of sweets, erratic behavior, and general defiance of parental authority.
Steps should also be taken to insure that an understanding physician is available and that a proper diet is maintained. For a year or more before the onset of menstruation, blood calcium levels are so low that young girls often develop the described symptoms which are usually accepted as normal behavior for pre adolescent females.
And during puberty, the maturing ovaries require calcium for estrogen production, and cannot produce enough estrogen for metabolic requirements. Because the need for calcium in the pre adolescent and adolescent years is higher than amounts normally found in the food supply, calcium supplements should be taken by females in this age group. Also, a magnesium and calcium supplement should be given. By introducing natural progesterone as this time, most of the symptoms mentioned above will be alleviated. Continuous use of the moisturizing cream with natural progesterone from the beginning of menarche through teenage years will facilitate and maintain a high level of wellness with few or no PMS complaints.
